Alcohol And Drugs

Being the loved one of an addict can leave you in a difficult position when it comes to asking for help. It is important to note that the emotions being felt are valid and they do count towards the greater success for sobriety by your loved one.

If the affected individual is already seeking help then it is also your responsibility that your mental state is attended to. Speaking with a professional, as well and meeting others in the same situation, can allow you to better process your emotions. Whether the emotions are of guilt, anger or fear, they must be attended to if the priority is also helping the addict. Attending to your mental state will also allow you to understand the disease and place you in a better position to help the individual. Someone who suffers from addiction but who is surrounded by mentally strong individuals is placed in a much greater position for success.
