Psychological Assessments

psychological assessments

Psychological assessments are a very integral part of psychotherapy. They can provide important and crucial insights about a person. They can be used to assess personality traits, learning disabilities, school entry readiness, among other psychological issues. Such assessments must be provided by our psychologists.

How do psychological assessments work?

There are many types of assessments, but they all involve some form of psychological testing to establish scores in various competencies to allow for comparison against the standard averages. In doing so, we can determine whether or not there are any issues at play, depending on the score comparisons. With most scores, deviations from the mean often imply psychological abnormalities. In addition, they can be very helpful for a psychological diagnosis.

Do psychological assessments help?

Yes. Of course, they do: can you ever solve a problem you don’t know you have? (Nope!) This is why psychological evaluations are so crucial for some psychological issues. However, this doesn’t mean that they are needed at all times. To know if a psychological battery is needed, our psychologists in Montreal and Westmount can help you out.
