Joanie Barabé
Psychoeducator, Psychotherapist
In my psychotherapy and psychoeducation practice, I place central importance on the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a safe space, marked by attentive listening and compassion, where each person can explore their emotions, gain a better understanding of their behaviors, and develop strategies adapted to their reality.
My approach is integrative and based on the biopsychosocial model, allowing consideration of the biological, psychological, and social dimensions that influence mental health. I combine systemic, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, and I have also developed expertise in eye movement–based interventions. I am certified in Eye Movement Technique (EMT) and trained in EMDR, two powerful tools for supporting trauma treatment and emotional regulation.
With more than twenty years of experience in helping relationships, I have had the privilege of working in diverse settings: in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults; in schools; in university contexts; in employee assistance programs (EAP); as well as in psychiatric and correctional environments. These experiences have allowed me to develop strong adaptability and multicultural sensitivity, both essential for working with diverse and complex client populations.
My professional commitment is rooted in the belief that each person holds unique resources to overcome their challenges. My role is to support my clients in discovering and strengthening these resources, in order to foster their resilience and lasting well-being.
